Minster Law Solicitors

I was involved in an accident in mid December 2006 and since then have been awaiting news on my compensation. I accepted an offer on May 21st 2009 and was told that it would take 2 to 3 weeks for me to receive the money. I was then told it could take up to 6 weeks, then informed that if the money hadn’t arrived by the end of last week then they would be taking legal action against the insurers. The problem is, I get no communication. I have not once been contacted other than when I have repeatedly called and emailed the solicitors. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience of Minster Law/know of any other action I could take ? It is too late to change solicitors as the case has been closed and I am simply waiting for the cheque which goes through Minster Law before the money comes to me. I am just sick of being misinformed or kept in the dark altogether. What I found out was – There is no reason whatsoever why the money has not been in your account in 28 days, unless a different period was agreed in writing. The cheapest and most effective means of getting somewhere is to write to them, inform them that if the cheque is not in your account/hands in 7 days, you will report the matter to the Law Society. You can complain to the LS on the basis of absence of communication alone, simply complete an on-line complaint form listing the relevant dates chronologically.

I know them and have that same sort of feeling about them because of a relative’s current claim – apparent lack of progress; real lack of information.

Write to them and request a clear statement of the present position; a list of the action they have taken (including dsates) and a note of what action they propose next. If what they send you looks unreasonable, or if they don’t send it in a reasonable time, complain to the Law Society.

I had an accident in 2003 which was not settled until 2008 – but I had a “proper” firm of solicitors acting for me who regularly kept me up to date on what was, or was not, happening. I wish now I had sent my relative to that firm instead!
